Jazz Goa Quartet

The Jazz Goa Quartet led by Colin D'Cruz features some of the most accomplished local as well as visiting international virtuosos.
The current line up includes Australian saxophonist Simon Hewitt and a great guitar player from Darjeeling Benoy Rai, along with Goan keyboard wizard Sancho Menezes and Colin himself on fretless bass. The music performed will be relaxed, ambient, lounge jazz most of which will be spontaneously improvised.

Uttar Kamalabari Satra -Majuli

Satras are a kind of medieval Vaishnava religious institution founded with explicit purpose of propagating the Bhakti movement conceptualized by Srimanta Sankaradeva, the great saint, preacher, poet, composer, playwright, artist, philosopher and social reformer in 15th, 16th century Assam. Badula padma Ata established Uttar Kamalabari Satra in the year 1673.
Sri Sri Uttar Kamalabari Satra is one of the leading Satra from Majuli has taking important part to promoting and propagating the Sattriya Arts and Culture. Many legendary figures of Sattriya who have working specially in performing arts been produced from this Satra. In 1975, along with his group Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Late Adhyapak Paramananda Barbayan, then senior Adhyapak(Guru) of the Satra, accompanied to Late Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed then president of India to Indonesia for performance. Since then Satra’s Artists continue to travel for performance beyond the boundary of nation.

Uttar Kamalabari Satra Sankardev Kristi Sangha
‘Uttar Kamalabari Satra Sankardev Kristi Sangha’ a cultural organization has formed in 1955, at Uttar Kamalabari Satra, Majuli (Assam), with an objective to improve and spread Satriya art and culture with a good artistic ability among the people of the country. Since its inception, the organization has been able to introduce a good number of artists each year and serving the country and beyond by exhibiting Satriya art and Culture. Numbers of students of this institution have won Centre for Cultural Recourses and Training (CCRT) schlorship and fellowship as well from Ministry of Culture, Governemtn of India. Twelve Experts (Gurus) of this institution have been successfully able to gain cultural pension from the State and Central Government. One couple of aged renowned Satriya artists of this Particular institution Adhayapak Paramananda Borbayan and Oja (Adhyapak) Gupiram Borgayan have won Sangeet Natak Academy Award in 2000 and Tagore Academy Award 2011 respectively, for their contribution towards the field of Satriya art and Culture. Another very crucial initiative of this institution is conduction often dance workshops, lecture demonstration and seminars for academic as well as artistic abilities improvement of the artists, in the days to come.

Sri Sri Janarddan Deva Goswami:
Sri Janarddan Deva Goswami is the twentieth Satradhikar of the Uttar Kamalabari Satra. With his skillful management he has organized many cultural events in different places of North-East states. He has keen interest in social work for tribal communities. Apart from these he has delivered socio-religious speeches in seminars, conferences etc.
